Preparados...

3,2,1… empezamos!

Ready….

3,2,1… Go!!! With mixed emotions in mind along with great excitement we left Castellon, my hometown today. It was a long day in which we took virtually all forms of transport (train, plane, bus and the car) except for the bike. I could say today was more of a long day trip. Now the darkness has fallen and the day is in to the very late hours. Despite the tiredness and only being few hours away till we cycle, thought I’d write few lines before closing my eyes.

We arrived hour and a half late to Cádiz due to flight delays, which caused us a bit of a challenge in terms of getting everything done that was planed for the day. Vero was there in Cádiz to welcome and greet us with open arms and a big smile as always. At half seven, we went to collect our bikes and luckily we were at the collection point just in time as the place was about to close in five minutes time.

Today was a very luckily day indeed, as I managed to visit the church of Santiago (la Iglesia de Santiago) while it was open, as during my last four visits to Cádiz it was closed. Surprising, Vero herself hasn’t had the chance to enter the church despite living here for almost 4 years. The main purpose of visiting the church of Santiago’s today was to get our first stamp, which you can see in the pictures.  As we went along the steps, we felt the ambience was all set for Easter, which is around the corner.

Just before dinner we went to the Las Flores restaurant, a place I would highly recommend to have appetizers that are typical Cádiz delicacies. Coming to the menu, you cannot go without trying Cadiz fried fish if you are in town and we also treated ourselves with pancake shrimp, another specialty that would tickle your taste buds. Then we took a drive to explore the city. First we went to see the Caleta´s beach and then the Constitución ´s monument of 1812, two must visit attractions in the city.

I would like to tell you more, but I think it’s time now to recharge myself for tomorrow. Stay tuned for the next post…
